Privacy policy

thehunt (thehunts.app) is a job application tracker operated by Cj Sacdalan ("we", "us"). If you have a question about this policy or your data, email calebjohn.sacdalan17@gmail.com.

• Account details: your email address and display name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form. We never see it.
• What you track: the job applications you add (company, role, job link, job type, work setup, status, dates, and short notes), their status history, and any interview rounds, meeting details, and prep notes.
• Preferences: your daily goal, time zone, appearance setting, and email choices.
• Hunt Pass purchases: the order ID, access dates, and refund status. Payments are processed by Polar. We never receive or store your card details.
• Usage analytics: aggregated page views, referring site, and approximate device, browser, and country. They come from a cookieless tool, and page addresses are stripped of search parameters and application IDs before they're sent, so no job links or titles are included.
• Technical logs: our hosting provider records standard request data, such as IP address and browser, to operate and secure the service.

To sign you in, save and show your applications, calculate your streak and statistics, provide Hunt Pass features you've paid for, send emails you've opted into, keep the service secure, and understand which pages are used so we can improve them. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your job search to profile you.

• Supabase for sign-in and the database that stores your account and applications.
• Vercel for hosting the app and for cookieless web analytics.
• Polar for Hunt Pass checkout and payment processing.
• Resend for delivering reminder and recap emails, only if you turn them on.
• Fontshare serves the app's font, so your browser requests it from Fontshare when a page loads.

We use only cookies the app needs: session cookies that keep you signed in, a preference cookie that remembers your appearance setting, and a short-lived cookie so the welcome animation plays once per visit. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your applications are never made public. A progress image is created on your device only when you choose to share or download it, and it leaves out company names and notes. The optional Chrome quick-add reads the current tab's address and title only when you click it, then opens thehunt so you can review before saving.

We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account in Settings removes your account and app data from our database. Copies may remain in our providers' backups for a limited period before they're overwritten, and purchase records may be kept as needed for refunds and accounting.

You can view and edit your applications at any time, export them as CSV from Settings, turn each email type off, and delete your account from Settings. For any other request, such as a copy of your data or a correction, email calebjohn.sacdalan17@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Your data is sent over HTTPS, and database rules ensure each account can read and change only its own records. Payment and email providers receive only what they need to do their part.

thehunt is not intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page, increase the version number, and change the effective date. For significant changes, we'll also let signed-in users know in the app.
